I can imagine it's probably harder for you than being in a war zone. At least then you had comrades, mates who had your back. But please know that millions of people love and care for you and will be thinking of you, not only at Christmas, but all year round. God bless you and keep you safe, as you did for us.

I'm not military, but my late father was proud of his wartime service in the RAF and both of my grandfathers served in WWI. If they hadn't done the right thing by joining up, I wouldn't be here. Hello unlike others putting messages on here I know what you are going through. At 28 my back was broken in two places and I had a three inch hole in my skull. After coming out of a coma I lost all bodily functions after months in hospital I was released. I started of walking then jogging on the camp sports field then running. I suffered with PTSD before it had a name for 12 years but overall remained positive So never give in find the best in every new day and fact that you’re alive.

Hi, just sending you a message to say thank you for your service. You are a hero. That even though we have never met, someone is thinking of you this Christmas. Even though it can be hard being alone at Christmas, remember is one day. Keep busy and stay in the present. It will pass. I'll be taking with me in my thoughts as I take Izzy for her long Christmas day walk along the canal. Although I'm sure she'll be demanding to sit on my lap and snuggle up for warmth before too long. I was in the police and then security always in a team surrounded by chosen family who had my back, was there for me ever day we would do anything for each other, then through circumstances of my ill health and covid isolation I was kept away from those I needed most, a text or phone call was one thing but to sit and have those laughs and even tears I felt seen and wanted. I thought I had lost that as I wasn’t telling them I needed them but when I did I had them back. Don’t be alone ask for help

Christmas is usually a time for families to get together. For me it will be just me and my 3 adult kids( 2 of them have special needs.. they’re Autistic with other problems) my parents and sister disowned me because my kids diagnosis’s. Haven’t seen them in over 20 years. You don’t always need blood related family… sometimes you can have an extended family that can be friends or people you know, but are not blood related. if you would like to talk, moan etc. Find me. I’m a listening ear.

My grandad fought in WW11 and he came home a changed man ( my Nan told me ) we had a special bond however he would never talk about the time he served for his country. One can understand after being part of the forces family, that on leaving one feels lonely, unloved even cast aside.
