Hope you have a very Happy New Year. You have done so much to keep our country free. It’s a travesty that any Veteran is left alone and in psychological turmoil. There needs to be more support out there for you brave service personnel. The sights you have seen are worse than any horror movie. You need to be supported and treasured by our weak willed politicians. You have served King and Country and the late Queen Elizabeth II. Loneliness is awful, I hate to think of any veteran being lonely.

I am extremely easy to talk to and have a lot in common with veterans or serving personnel. I grew up in the Army with my dad.

My uncle John lies in Belgium. His photo & RAF badge were beside my grandmother every day for 50 years. He was 22. The courage & dignity of those who were lost, & those who loved them & lived their lives with their loss, never diminishes. How are you? I mean really how are YOU. Life can be tough so I wanted you to know that wherever you are, I am taking time to send you a special message to let you know that you are valued and precious. If you are feeling anything other than happy right now then please know that I understand and I also know that things can and do improve (and nothing - good or bad - lasts forever). We can only imagine how the sacrifices you’ve made have affected your lives and those of your families. Your wounds, both visible and invisible, are with you but you can overcome them with help. Thinking especially of WW2 Vets with the 80th D.Day anniversary coming up in 2024. You will no doubt be remembering your comrades who never came back, as will many of us with our grateful thanks for your service. Do hope if you’re able you can make the commemorations in June.

Royal Signals Veterans

My dad served 22 years in the Royal Signals. He is sadly no longer with us but my memory of growing up was him going into the mess on Christmas morning and bringing back any soldier who was not on duty and unable to go home for Christmas. It was the joy of having a new face around the table and to get to know them. I think of the serving soldiers and veterans frequently and especially at Christmas.
