My Grandads (both) and my Dad, 3 of my Uncles and 2 of my aunts have all fought for their country- all are proud yet none will talk about it, I only found out 1 of my Grandad’s had an MBE after he passed. So, despite my family history, I have no idea how you are or if you are well as maybe you just don’t want to talk about it too. And that’s ok as long as it’s because you don’t need to. Saying that we are blessed. We have survived another day. Some of us have Christmas dinner, others do not. We have to make the best of what we have. Hi Veteran, my name is Audrey. Both my husband and son have served with the colours, the Border Regiment and the Royal Engineers. I know how hard it is to put the memories of active service to rest. My husband fought in Burma in ww2. My son in Iraq and Afghanistan. I hope that if you do struggle with negative memories you will be able to put them aside and enjoy your Christmas. I wish you joy.

May the lord keep you in his heart and hand. My son David was in the Grenadier Guards. He served in NI and the First Gulf War. Sadly he died at just 52 years 23 days of a heart attack. His passion was raising money for Help for Heroes and Blesma. He raised thousands upon thousands for both, doing marathons, iron man and lots more. Please all keep well. Love from Brenda

To me, the effects were horrendous... end of the world. However, with effort on my part and support and love from those around me, i am in a better place. Hopefully you will have family and friends. I worked for BFG health 99 -2002. Best 2 years posted working in Germany with soldiers and their families. The regiment was a family. Christmas was a lovely time of year there. Firstly I thank you for your service. I went to a boarding school that was filled with army children and was always envious of the places they went at Christmas and the army family life. Remember what you achieved for your country - remember to reach out to others if you need to. I do the veterans lottery in the hope this provides support in transition back to a non army happy life for all who serviced. I have a massive respect to all who wear a uniform for this country.
