I never served in armed forces and think of myself as a lucky man. Born only 3 years after WWII, very aware of its impact on my parents and so many others. At school I was shocked by the Cuban missile crisis, later at military age myself, I was a student in Kent and soon met many returning home from Aden in Yemen. There was still the Cold War; Europe was split in half! I always hoped UK wouldn’t be in war, but our brave people were drawn in again and again; they gave so much! I care for them!
