My Uncle James Simpson

My Uncle Jimmy did not talk about his years involved in WWII much, but did say his best years were lost. Perhaps his life long marriage and his family helped him to adapt to civilian life that followed. Deployed in North Africa, Greece, Sicily and Northern Europe,I imagine he saw it all. His 4th Survey outfit specialised in spotting enemy artillery flashes. Home after war, he did not want his medals; his family persuaded him to accept them. He was a kind and helpful man, he gave medals to me.
